Datathon #OpenData another edition launched – program for a good cause!
Registration for the next edition of the programming marathon organized by the Prime Minister’s Office has started. Participants in the #OpenData Datathon this year will be designing prototypes of m apps.in. for Ukrainian citizens coming to Poland. The prize pool includes more than PLN 60,000 and prestigious internships at NASK.
Datathon #OpenData is an event aimed at all people interested in the subject of Open Data – that is, open data to which everyone has access. We provide data portal.gov.pl. It’s a powerful database where we find fully sortable, up-to-date data on a wide range of areas: from transportation, finance and government data, environment, to information on cultural events, education, or health.
Unique task
This year’s edition of Datathon #OpenData is a response to current challenges. The task will be to create an app that solves current social problems, including e.g. will help Ukrainians fleeing war to find a job or a place to live and function independently and with dignity in Poland. Create app prototypes from open data from the data portal.gov.en. Use at least one of the APIs that event partners have provided there. Take advantage of the knowledge and experience of experts and mentors. Details of the challenge you will learn on the spot.
What to keep in mind
At the beginning you need a team – 3-5 people and an idea for an application. Go to www.hackathon.gov.pl to know the details of the event. Then register and keep the confirmation of participation. Datathon #OpenData will be held in Centrum Kreatywności Targowa in Warsaw. We start on April 2, 2022. and we create non-stop for 24 hours. After the presentation of works the jury will choose the best in each category.
We will award prizes in three categories: for the use of API to the bases: TREZOR 3.0 Ministry of Finance, Domain Knowledge Databases of the Central Statistical Office and Public Registers in Tourism of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. Additionally you will compete for prestigious internships in Scientific and Academic Computer Network.
